This month we’re celebrating you, our fearless readers, by offering 30 days of reading, writing and networking tips. On October 31st we’ll conclude the festivities by giving one lucky reader a copy of the 2011 Writer’s Market and a goodie bag. Learn how to enter here.
Tip #7: Read the Dollars and Deadlines Blog
As a freelance writer, I’ve learned to screen out blogs that waste my time and focus on blogs that are worth reading. Kelly James-Enger’s blog, Dollars and Deadlines, is one of the blogs I find worth reading.
In five short months Kelly’s blog has gathered a steady following, and with good reason. Kelly has over ten years of freelancing experience and has authored ten books, two of which are geared towards writers, Six-Figure Freelancing: A Writer’s Guide to Making More Money and Ready, Aim, Specialize! Create your own Writing Specialty and Make More Money. She uses her experience to help writers make the most of their time.
There are thousands of blogs about writing, but fewer that address writing for a living. (Don’t worry–I’ll direct you to some great ones!) This blog won’t just address writing for a living, but writing and working efficiently.
Read Dollars and Deadlines to learn more about writing query letters, breaking into new markets and ghostwriting. It’s an excellent resource for freelancers, and a great place for those looking to get started writing for magazines.

Wow, thank you so much for the mention! I am trying to make the blog as useful for freelancers as possible, especially those who want to make more money in less time (and isn’t that all of us?).
